This collection of tips came together in this form In the classroom, as it was developed alongside teaching 16 year olds to read from scratch. At one time I taught reception class for some years in a primary school and perfected my way of working. I believed the most important thing was every child reading and sought ways to achieve that. When I became head of special needs for older students, there was very little suitable material available for 12 year olds upwards, to learn to read and write so I devised my own from my early experience list and later compiled it all into one starting from the beginning needs through to having skills to write a book. These are skills needed whatever your age or problems. The material is easily adapted to suit any individual or group. It lists all the skills needed and forms a diagnostic yet prognostic tool. If you tick off anything the student can do already, you are left with what they need to learn. There will be additional books to motivate, Little Scribblers and Big Scribblers, containing images to colour and space to illustrate, a place to start a story.
This book is for personal use At home with family members or in your group or classroom as leading the learners. The book can’t be copied or sold or given away in any form. If you Need to reproduce the record sheets for more than one student, please request a form to do so in an email when making this purchase.
